Hello from Porto - Portugal

Hello All

I'm from Porto, Portugal and just found this forum.

Believe it or not I read my first e-book (ken Folet's Pillars of the Earth) only some weeks ago in a little 3,5" GPS device

Now I am in the process of trying to figure what is the "best" device for my habits, my taste and my tiny pocket size, so I found this forum and will starting to dig around a while.

I know I will find lots of Kindle fans, Sony fans, Cybook fans, and all kind of fans that will defend their own choice as the only one wise, so...

I'll take my time and harass you you some silly questions, yes, but one thing I promise...

I will search first and search again before I ask.

Thank you all

I am António

Welcome!

Wow, have your eyes recovered from reading Pillars of the Earth on a PDA yet? It's one of my favorite books, but it's sort of a test of endurance to read. Now you have to read World Without End, the second book in the series. It's great, possibly even better than the first book. Also very very long, being 5,082 pages on my Sony 505, using the largest font.

Happy Reading!

Hi Antonio, welcome to MobileRead.

Believe it or not I was 56 pages into the paperback version of Ken Follett`s The Pillars of the Earth when I got my Sony PRS700, and that`s where the bookmark still sits.

I'm going to have to start reading it again, or maybe buy the eBook version.

Once again, welcome. WDE

Hello again to ALL and thank you very much for your warm welcome.

Of course I will start soon ask you lots of questions, but for now I'm still in the process of finding the courage to spend all that money in a e-book reader while hoping that prices start going down soon.

What I think will drive me in the end to the Cybook and apart from Sony is the price but also the fact that with Sony you can't use mobireader or any non Sony type of e-books, and I am an avid looker for free and cheap e-books and i like to have the option to use most formats...

Even if I already read about 7 or 8 Ken Folet books, I dont think I have already read World Without End so I will look to get it soon.

Thank you also for the links to spanish books, but it is OK for me to read in English (even if it doesnt look like by the way I write it).

Of course I also like to read in Spanish, but mainly Spanish (or latin.american authors).

I also like to read in Portuguese of course (my mother language) but in terms of e-books it is a lot easier to find brazilian translations of english writing authors and I prefer to read them in English than in Brazilian (if I can't find a good Portuguese translation).

Speaking of American/Portuguese writers, does any of you reads, and likes to read Richard Zimmler?

If not I advise you to

All the best

Yours
Antonio
