No. The Kindle2 really isn't fundamentally different. Most of the messages, tips, etc are going to apply to both revisions.

Looks slightly different display-wise. Doubtful that it is enough different to require a new forum. It's not like we are overrun with posts on the Kindle section here.

The User Interface is a bit different, but most of the capabilities appear to be identical. All the Kindle Store ebooks work on both for example, both have 6 font sizes (and the same font). What is definitely new: a) 16 grey shades (vs 4) and b) text to speech.

I just bought the K2 (my first reader) and I would like to pick the brains of the more experienced Kindle users. So it would make sense to keep all Kindle users in one forum. Plus it seems that 1.2 for the K1 is an upgrade to bridge the funtionality between both models.

True. And we do know that some features will not be rolled into K1, like text-to-speech, but others will, like Whispersynch. To me, it depends on how divergent the software ends up being and only time will tell. Sony 500 and 505 share a forum successfully though their firmware diverges somewhat.

Alright, alright. I was just thinking because we also have a separate Sony 700 section and I remember the Mobileread team mentioning that they wanted to slightly change the forum in the future (split by vendors and use device model as subforum).

Don't forget that the Sony 505 & the 700 are both continuing to be sold, unlike the K1. In addition, they're quite different devices in terms of OS (and 'custom' firmwares).
