Hello from Phoenix, AZ

I'm John. Just cruised in from the comments about the new Kindle launch. I've had my Kindle about four months and really like it. Glad to be here. I'll go look around now. Book interests: politics, American history (Abraham Lincoln especially) and mysteries.

Welcome, tarantulakeeper. I think DesertGrandma is the official Kindle/Arizona greeter & I'd bet she hopes you keep all your tarantulas to yourself.

Hello, John, and welcome to MobileRead
Where 'bouts? Phoenix proper, or one of the subuurbs?

I'm curious about why you would keep tarantulas. I've been told there are no poisonous ones except in Mexico. Is that true?

Actually, I think they are quite 'furry'. Kinda like an 8 legged cat........

Thanks all, for the welcome. I live in north Phoenix, due east from Surprise. I taught fifth and sixth grade until recently (retired) and had snakes and tarantulas in my room. Kids love 'em and the animals help get kids excited about science. Actually, all tarantulas have venom and fangs, but as long the tarantula is not pinned down or you resemble a cricket, they are fairly docile. Especially our native species. John

I think I like mine better. The screen size is the same and although its quite thin I don't care for the increased distance between the screen and edge. I've gotten quite used to the buttons so don't make too many 'turn page' mistakes. I hope it sells though so the support will continue. John

My daughter and son-in-law are both teachers...second and 6th grade respectively.

Would you be interested in sometime doing a class show and tell for the 6th graders? Pending admin approval, of course. If this isn't something you do, don't be shy about saying so!
