Hi everyone -
I've been lurking since before Xmas, trying to decide which reader to ask for/purchase. I recently picked up a Sony 700, and am in the process of loading Calibre as we speak. I spend a lot of time on planes, and will try to keep work and pleasure reading with me in as light a bundle as possible. My biggest hurdle is, I like the feel of a book or magazine in my hand. Also, when I plunk down $20 bucks or so for a book I like seeing the physical evidence. I'm the same way with music. I want to be able to see and feel my "property" (that I can't copy, modify, ....) You will get over the "holding a real book" thing really fast, I promise.

I was of the 'old school' also. If you've picked the right reader for you, you will soon find reading on your device much more pleasurable.
No cramping hands from trying to keep those paperbacks open. More comfortable reading at night. No more heavy books to handle. You can read while eating (My favorite! ![]() adjustable font All your library at your fingertips. No more running out of something to read no matter where you are. And, Welcome to MobileRead! |

Welcome ztudor. I felt the same way you do now about physical evidence of what you spent. In no time...I got used to my reader and love all the things I can do with it.

Welcome to MobileRead ztudor
![]() I felt the same way about my books. I had an extensive collection and loved the feel of being surrounded by them and holding a book as I read it. Then Christmas and a gift from my son (the Sony 505). I am finding that I pick up the Sony to read more often now than my paperbooks. (who'd have thunk it?) I hope you enjoy learning about and using your Sony. |

Hello ztudor & welcome. One reason I got an ebook reader was because I didn't like holding those heavy thick real books. My reader is thinner, and lighter and has the same balance on the first page as the last page.
