I Need a New Word

I need a new word to describe the sense of disappointment that a reader has when a book series ends unsatisfactorily. The words "disappointed" and "dissatisfied" are too vague; they could mean that the last book was bad or that there wasn't a real conclusion to the series. I'm looking for a more specific word to really get to the feeling when the reader has after putting in the work to read through a lengthy series and when an author worked so hard to build to a particular conclusion, executed that conclusion, left the characters in a reasonable place, tied up the loose ends, and wrote the book competently, and yet still left the reader ... not fully happy. In the case of the series I just finished (no, I'm not going to point fingers), the tone of the final book, especially the final confrontation, just felt off somehow; the sense of joy and wonder and humor that permeated the series was missing; too many of the characters had too little to do; and the final confrontation itself was hard to visualize. Thus, when I put the book down (well, technically, closed the cover on my Kobo), I was disappointed, dissatisfied, and a host of similar emotions. So I need a word to describe that combination of emotions.

I’ll throw out the word CHEATED! Not just letting you down in plot, character, etc. but also in the price paid for the book. I have a particular popular author and character in mind but best not to go down that rabbit hole.

Where's the fun if no one's going to point fingers and name names? Why so coy?

At best, you could save someone from a dud read.
