For reading free books

Which model would you advise for reading p2p obtained books...

I don't know much about the formats. I get a lot of pdf stuff and it is hard on a laptop. I don't think they have been formatted especially for any thing...

I think best feature for me would be ability to read the free books I get...

BeBook or Astak EZ Reader. I'm getting one next week, and that's the main reason that's what I decided on. I have a ton of non-DRM ebooks and I wanted something that would handle a lot of different formats. I hear they aren't perfect with pdf's, but...

I hope you are not referring to illegally downloaded material here. MobileRead is a site which SUPPORTS the eBook industry, not the criminals who distribute illegal material. If you want to see eBooks become a success, please BUY eBooks to demonstrate that support.

If you want eBooks to become a success then DO NOT buy DRM:ed books. Buying these and showing that you accept DRM will only make success for eBooks less likely and definitely make success take longer time.

Is this an official policy statement? I did not know that and I am reluctant to support any industry. If this is an industry sponsored forum maybe that should be more visible.

I *think* he means ebooks obtained through peer to peer sites, or torrents. Some have been repackaging the public domain material from PG into torrents for people who prefer downloading that way, I believe.

As far as whether or not we are talking about illegally-distributed material, let's ask the original poster: bigriff - is the material you are talking about primarily in the public domain, or is it copyrighted material which has been illegally uploaded?

Actually, he did alluded to just that. He did allude to downloading stolen eBooks from torrent sites.

In plain English, the question reads... What is the best reader for reading my stolen eBooks?

I thought MobileRead wanted to support eBook reading. I am disappointed that the official stance is to support the eBook industry (event if it hurts eBoook reading).

I am thinking about things like supporting DRM, defending companies as Amazon even if they behave badly and so on. I am not talkimng about encouraging illegal activity.
