Lost menu en floating toolbar in Neoreader

I've been swiping and whatnot in order to open the menu or the floating toolbar in Neoreader.

What I have is a quite responsive (for a large scanned PDF of Heidegger's Gesamtausgabe) app with at the bottom a bar. The bar has the time, battery level and page number. If I tap the pagenumber I can change the page. Quite nice, but I heavily rely on bookmarks to move around a book that I am studying. So I want that functionality back.

I've been

• tapping and swiping in all possible positions and gestures.
• removed the app cache
• restarted the device, a Note 5, firmware 4.2
• Googled for more options, but only found one untried option using a BT keyboard. However, mine broke a while back.

Does anybody has any idea how to fix this? Does anybody knows whether notes get lost if you delete the storage data of Neoreader?

EDIT: I choose eInkwise in the system dropdown menu, which redirected to the settings of Neoreader. After changing the settings for touchzones back and forth, they worked again.
