Moving tags in the tag browser
Seriously, fix the tag browser so I am not bumping along trying not to drop a tag and not really seeing where I started or landed but God help me if I accidentally pick up a tag because there is no undo, or confirmation that I wanted to move that tag, or confirmation that it landed where I wanted it, no ability to really move it around unless I am holding down on my right clicker and attempting to use my laptop mouse pad to scroll down and all I get is a little lightening of the tags to show where I am and no freaking map of where I started or where I ended.
I hate that there is a whole freaking chart of things I can do with tags when it comes to icons - but nothing at all about moving them around when you have heirarchal tagging. I have 3500 tags in just tags, I have Calibre library tags, I have Goodreads Shelves tags - two different columns for that - I have book source columns, character columns, tags for book styles and read status, but if I want to do anything with them its clunky and unintuitive. I HATE this. I just want to be able to go through my heirarchal tags, and maybe see if it would be bettter to have some in one way vs another, but if I click on a tag and start to move it - Im stuck - Im stuck because Characters.PNR & Urban.Vampires is way above PNR & Urban.Characters.Vampires, and if I want to find "Vampires" and move them to one or the other I have to drag it along forever, and hope I don't drop it, and if I do happen to drop it in MT & S I end up with MT & S.Vampres but I don't know that because the list slaps shut as soon as you do a change. STICKY TAGS - pick a tag up, drag it where you want, position it, look at where it is, decide - yeah, that looks good, then click it in place. No more of this bumping along when my vision is low and there is nothing I can see about where the tag is really, because all I get is a slight highlight. God Help me if I pick up the wrong tag or decide maybe I don't want to move it after all because now I am committed. The act of selecting a tag and starting to drag it forces a decision and there is no undo. There is no confirmation, there is only an arduous click and drag through the list with a tiny freaking box or a tiny freaking circle with a line saying "nope - can't move here" but lets make sure we can put an icon on any tag and have a dialog box with no less than 8 different options to put an icon on the tag. (Sorry, Im ticked right now). Last edited by Rellwood; Today at 07:15 PM. |

Maybe a Tag Manager like the Manage Series manager?

There is tag mapper, and tag manager - but that's basically a list you scroll and manually type and change, you aren't seeing the tags in-situ

Im just annoyed because I only use tags in the browser and they are all heirarchal. My brain needs to see everything out in the open and I try and compact it as best I can, but the lists are still pretty long. I can't easily weed through them because they are heirarchal, and you can't easily rename them in line because you click and rename but then it snaps shut and you hope it looks right. There is no way to manage the tags while seeing the tags in line - you cannot move the tags around you cannot put them where you wnat them, they are in alphabetical order or in order of how many tags you have. I have them heirarchal and yes, it's getting fixed so that heirarchal is before singles, but that's not good enough. I want to move them instead of having to get creative in the namings, I want to say Put housekeeping tags first, then put the genres then put the themes and tropes, and characters put the Romance io tags and Goodreads tags below them.
My tags are so ugly because of the browser they are so long because my brain requires full naming in semantic order. Its my problem but the only way I have been able to actually manage using browser tags is by literally doing a search at the bottom, but the dream of having a beautifully aesthetic tag browser is still alive. |
