New Kindle

Does the new Kindle (not the Paperwhite) has light as the Paperwhite does?
The Paperwhite has gone up to $199.00. Might have to buy the cheaper Kindle.

The Kindle Basic has a front light but it lacks the color adjustment of the Paperwhite. It is also not water resistant.

Amazon is being sneaky. They released new Kindles before the battery law in the EU takes effect sometime in February 2027. This way they don't have to make any of them easier to change the battery.

Several reviews have mentioned that the 2026 Kindles are designed to allow battery replacement. Not the open door and swap battery that some people still seem to in love with but you can open the case and replace the battery without needing specialized and/or proprietary tools. One description was basically just like replacing a Kobo battery using the iFixit documentation.

I'll be interested to see real world reviews of the Colorsoft Case. An expensive attempt by Amazon to placate those button lovers like myself.
