USB connection headaches - Calibre to Boox Go 6 Gen 2

I just got my Boox Go 6 Gen 2 yesterday and I'm having problems transferring files via USB.

Sometimes I can see and use folders within "Go 6 (GenII)>Internal Shared Storage" in File Explorer but sometimes there are no folders showing and File Explorer will crash if I click on that. Rebooting both Boox and my computer sometimes solves that issue.

When I could see the folders within the Boox I was able to transfer MOBI, EPUB and PDF files via USB. They work fine when reading on the Boox.

I want to use USB instead of BooxDrop because my goal is to use Calibre to transfer files from its library to Boox. Going into various Calibre folders with File Explorer, renaming magazine files to be unique on Boox, then dragging and dropping is way too much hassle.

For years I have been transferring files with the Calibre app to my Paperwhite, but I cannot get the "Device" tab in Calibre to work the same way when I connect my Boox. I copied the error message below.

Has anyone else been able to do this? I'm just about ready to throw away the ****ing Boox.

Have you tried a different cable? With other devices I have found that to be the problem.

OK, now Calibre seems to see the Boox Go 6 Gen 2 because "Device" and "Send to Device" tabs are present. But I had error messages for reading metadata and the file transfer. Error details below. Is there anything I can do to fix this?
