Calibre Companion - Beta

Well I signed up for the Android Beta of Calibre Companion and received build 5.5.2 (417) this morning.

While it does seem to work (at least in my very limited testing) I'm disappointed to see one MAJOR change; ADs and a subscription model. While all features are available ad free, removing ads require either
- $13.99 / year
- $2.79 / month
Or
- $34.99 lifetime

No mention of currency so I presume this is $US.

I'm not even going to try. At the time of the acquisition there wasn't an alternative, but now there are a couple of them.

I'm moving between CalibreSync and JetReader, both payed apps, but much more cheaper.

I have each installed in a different phone, CalibreSync is on my normal phone, where I don't read much, but I can easily check if I already have a book before buying. JetReader is on an eink phone I use for reading on the go. It has some work yet, I've reported a couple of bugs and the developer is actively working on the app, but is very functional, I've been using that app to read during lunch time for the last month and I'm liking it.

So, I'm not going to work on beta testing this app, there are options.
