So, I don't know about you, but I am very particular about the quality of metadata on my ebooks. I physically ache when I see two out of a seven book series be listed in an alternative manner because the author or publisher didn't care enough to unify the spelling of the authors name; The classic being f.e. William Shakespeare listed at Shakespeare, William, which is technically NOT supposed to be "author", but "author_sort". So this is an attempt for a simple mp3tag-like editor that can handle editing several thousand epubs at once (it will get the job done with more files than that, but it calls for patience), and you can even sync directly to your Kobo if that is what you want.

I have a conflicted relationship with Calibre. It thinks it knows what's best for me, I do not. I want to keep my existing file hierarchy, and edit my files in-place, although I do like a lot of the calibre functionality. So this program just checks if calibre is installed, and is able to use CLI files for converting, an adding extra metadata (you need to configure your own calibre with the plugins you want to use!).



Caveat Emptor: Yes, it is an AI-coded program. I have had the idea for this for more than ten years, and it became clear that no one else would be building it - I have been fiddling with the backend manually for the last year or so, but I finally gave in, told Claude want I needed, and we went from there. While I am an IT professional, and troubleshoot a lot of the backend mechanics myself - I do not work with UX coding, so this was a necessity to get where I wanted it to be.

There is a ready-built exe file for Windows available, but you can also download and run the python code directly if that is more to your taste.
