Question KOReader opens Pocketbook root dierctory instead of successfully launching the app

I'm trying to install KOReader v2026.07.1 on my new Pocketbook Era Color (PB700K3) but it won't launch. When I first install it and try to open it, I get to the Quickstart Guide but nothing more than that. When I try to open it afterwards, it just goes to the root directory of the Pocketbook instead of launching the app. I have tried reinstalling KOReader from scratch but the same happens. I'm installing it via a macbook so I wonder if that could be the cause of this issue. On Pocketbook in Applications/USER'S there appears @._koreader in addition to @koreader. I asked chatgpt and the first one appears to be metadata created by the macbook. I deleted these but nothing happens. I copied the crash log to chatgpt and it said that it appears to begin to launch successfully and no obvious crash can be seen. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm not very tech-savvy so I have no clue how to solve this issue.

The Pocketbook Era Color software version is U700k3.6.10.2359.

Here are some possibly problematic things from the crash log. I don't know if they are relevant:

WARN Terminal: cannot open /dev/ptmx: No such file or directory

WARN Terminal: Device doesn't meet some of the plugin's requirements

Hi, this is normal.

KOReader's UI is basically just a file browser by default. You need to navigate to wherever you keep your ebooks, and long-press on that folder and set it as your Home for it to automatically open that folder next time you restart KOReader.
There's a an option under Settings to change browsing style. See the user guide.

You could also install an UI plugin, like SimpleUI (obligatory shilling for my patches to go along with it) if you'd like a more "natural" interface, or use another like Bookshelf or ZenUI.
