[Metadata Source Plugin] Amazon Extra

Amazon Extra is a Calibre metadata and cover source that extends Calibre's Amazon implementation with sequential search fallback and strict edition validation. It is designed to replace the built-in Amazon metadata source when enabled.

Features

Fetches a known Amazon product directly when a valid Amazon identifier is present.
Otherwise searches Amazon first, then retries through DuckDuckGo only when Amazon produces no validated match.
Ignores an existing ISBN during lookup by default so a print ISBN cannot force the wrong edition. A new ISBN returned by Amazon is still included.
Validates title, author, identifiers, and series volume before accepting candidates.
Can prefer Kindle editions while retaining multiple valid candidates for manual selection.

Installation and configuration

, then use Preferences > Plugins > Load plugin from file and restart Calibre. Under Preferences > Metadata download, disable the built-in Amazon source to avoid duplicate requests, enable Amazon Extra, and configure the preferred Amazon country. Amazon.com is the default.

Notes

Amazon page markup and search behavior can change. The plugin deliberately rejects uncertain matches instead of returning a loosely related book. Other metadata sources may remain enabled for supplementary fields. The
