Libra 2 Firmware confusion
My just warranty replaced refurbished Libra 2 came with firmware 4.34.20148. I want to start using kobopatch. I have questions:
1. I can't seem to find any reference to this firmware in kobopatches or in kobostuff. Is there a reason for that? 2. Do I have to change to a supported firmware to use kobopatch? 3. Is there a preferred FW to use, or should I just get the latest (eg in order to use the kobopatch web ui)? 4. Is it possible to downgrade FW version? |

Are you quite sure 4.34.20148 is the exact number of your firmware version? There doesn't seem to be such a firmware.
If it is, then yes, you should update. You can always downgrade. |

I would update the firmware so you know you are on a known firmware and then you can run things like KOReader, NIckelMenu, and apply patches.

To confirm: When I click settings->Device information I see the following under "software details":
4.34.20148 (57c2aebbb6, 10/6/22) If this is an unusual firmware, would there be community interest in my keeping it for a while (for "research" or whatever)? Re flashing, is there any reason not to pick the latest firmware? If not why are older known firmwares so well supported? |

No reason to keep that firmware version. It's not one that has anything special to it. Just update and forget about it.

Thanks! And to the question of which fw to flash, is the consensus that the latest is the most optimal?

I would just install the latest firmware version. Much of the support you are looking at is from when those firmware versions were the latest and greatest and some people are still running them. |
