Lightbulb [Tool] Wallaflare – Lightweight, serverless Wallabag backend for KOReader

Hi everyone,
I love using KOReader's built-in Wallabag sync on my e-reader, but maintaining a full self-hosted Wallabag stack (PHP, MySQL/Postgres, Redis, Docker, and an always-on 24/7 VPS) felt like overkill for just syncing reading lists.
To simplify this, I created Wallaflare — a lightweight, serverless reimplementation of the Wallabag v2 API built to run entirely on Cloudflare Workers and Cloudflare D1 (serverless SQLite).
What it does:
Zero Server & Zero Maintenance: Runs completely within Cloudflare's free tier. No VPS, no Docker containers, and nothing to update or maintain 24/7.
Native KOReader Sync: Works out of the box with KOReader's Search / Tools > Wallabag plugin.
Works with the Official Wallabag Android App: You can share articles from your phone using the standard Wallabag Android app (or browser extension) and have them sync seamlessly to your e-reader.
E-Reader Friendly EPUBs: Generates clean multi-page EPUBs with embedded cover artwork, metadata summary page, and clean natural paragraph spacing for e-ink screens.
Web Dashboard: Includes a simple distraction-free web reader with Dark/Light/Sepia themes and mobile support.
Quick Setup:
Deployment takes about 2 minutes with Wrangler:
1. Clone the repo & install dependencies:
Code:
git clone https://github.com/UserCel/wallaflare.git
cd wallaflare && npm install
2. Create your free D1 database:
Code:
npx wrangler d1 create wallaflare-db
3. Open wrangler.toml and paste the generated database_id.
4. Initialize the database schema & deploy:
Code:
npx wrangler d1 execute wallaflare-db --file=schema.sql --remote
npm run deploy
5. Configure your Worker URL in KOReader (Search / Tools > Wallabag) or the Android app.
Disclaimer & Feedback:
Please note: Wallaflare is an independent, clean-room implementation of the Wallabag v2 REST API. While it has been tested with current versions of KOReader and the Wallabag Android app, upstream changes to the plugin or app could potentially cause breakage in the future.

Hope this is helpful to fellow KOReader users who want a simple, maintenance-free read-it-later setup! Feedback, bug reports, and contributions are very welcome.
