more than 10 years using my Kobo Glo HD

Although I am looking to get an replacement at one point in time, I am quite happy with my Kobo Glo HD.
Clara BW would be a next in line.
Warmer night backlight is one of the pro's, along with memory capacity and usb-c.
Glo HD has this old ir touchscreen sensors, what about Clara BW touch screen and battery consumption?!
Is there anything else I might be looking forward on the newer models.
Any one else still using Glo HD?

My daughter just recently got back into reading. Her glo was toast, least ways the SD card was, at least 10 years old. New, larger card and new .img file from here and all is good.
I'm currently using a Clara HD that's..8? years old with a new SD card and .IMG file also. Battery life is a bit shorter than I'd like but it's not bad enough to look at replacing it..yet. I was looking at a wireless charging adaptor I could put in between the Clara and the cover so I don't have to keep plugging and unplugging it. Don't see the need for colour so I'm happy where I'm at.

I'm using my Sage and Libra 2 daily, both are 5 years old. As Kobo has no replacement for them (no black and white models with 7 or 8'' screen), I'll continue using them for as long as they last. I don't want a color device, and I don't want a 6'' device either.

A kobo glo HD has everything one could need. I still don't understand why they now sell so called "updated" versions of this e-reader if we can't keep it up to date without the help of Mobileread. Long live the community, long live the Glo HD 🤗

Capacitive touch, a faster CPU, water resistant, USB-C connector, bigger screen, front light colour control (ComfortLight Pro).

yes, water resistance is big one.
What are the energy reqirements between capacitive and ir touch screen, is capacitive lighter on the battery?

Yes, capacitive is lighter on the battery, but in the case of ereaders the difference is insignificant.
On my Kobo Touch the IR touch was less accurate, I mean sometimes it needed an extra tap to register the page turn.
---------
But I'd still prefer IR touch over capacitive, because IR doesn't need an extra layer on top of the screen.
It would be even better to make devices without a touchscreen and give back the buttons to operate the device.
Buttons are more reliable than touchscreens. Unfortunately E Ink doesn't make Carta screens with frontlight AND without touch layer. You can only have both or none.

I never found my Aura H2O's IR touch to be inaccurate.

Buttons are less reliable then a touch screen. The buttons can bounce for a double press when you only pressed once. Buttons can wear out meaning they don't work properly.

Both have pros and cons. I prefer physical buttons as they give feedback after being pressed. If there are enough buttons, they'll last longer than the device's average lifespan.

And on most Readers with buttons, there is 1 for page forward and 1 for page back.
