Old K3 with a passcode - way around it?

I've got an old K3 (Kindle Keyboard) that I just replaced the battery on, and it boots up and wants a passcode. It says if you forgot it to call customer service, but of course they're clueless about this. Anyone know a way around it? I've got one with a broken screen that I can swap the circuit board into this one (with a good screen) but if there's some quick way around it, I'd prefer that. Any way to factory reset without access to the menus?

I seem to recall the hard reset for the kindle keyboard is to hold the power button for 60 seconds. I know I've done it in the past as there was no menu option then to do a hard reset. Another method if that fails is to restart it 7 times. I know that one worked when I was trying to resurrect my brother's kindle (needed a new battery).

That will force a restart but not a factory reset. Someone on reddit told me - enter resetmykindle as the password. That worked!
