It's a calibre built-in plugin? Seems to be the reason for most plugins that are allowed to be disabled.

AFAIK: None of the built-in User Interface plugins can be disabled, at least according to the CCR optional plugin, see attached csv.txt (remove the .txt)
But why would you want to, if a built-in user interface plugin is not in a menu or toolbar and it's shortcuts are set to 'None' it's practically invisible - the All Actions menu being the exception. BR |

I object to "AI" matching being added. Gone back to 8.10.0.

I seem to recall you already reverted to calibre before AI version.
But, fwiw: Set Tweak->Hide AI features to False. Et voila Gone. BR |

People have lost $2m contracts due to allegations of LLM/Generative/Agentic AI being used.
It seems to remain in the "Similar Books" menu. This endorsement and adoption of AI by Calibre is untenable for writers. It poisons the well. It adds nothing that can't be done outside of Calibre by users that want to use the unreliable & unethical tools from Alphabet, Microsoft, Musk, Anthropic and OpenAI. Oracle has bet too hard and is likely to go bust. Alphabet/Google has gone too far with Chrome, compromises Apple MacOS installs and everyone's PCs with the silently installed LLM. Mozilla has added features that users overwhelmingly voted against, though about:config allows disabling of that and their illegal telemetry. There is UnGoolged Chromium, Vivaldi, Waterfox and other forks. There is now an almost complete AI free fork of Calibre. The code adds bloat. By default on a new install the plugins are enabled. Windows 11 is and many MS Applications are now a mess with Co-pilot. Yet the plagiarising, environment destroying LLM systems can't ever make profit. Only Nvidia and the chip makers and companies supplying shovels (builders of datacentres) are making money in this "goldrush" built on stolen human creative works. A program that manages ebooks, metadata and search of the content enabling and encouraging LLM use is obscene. |

Quote:
Buried tweaks you have to turn off and plugins that have to be disabled is unacceptable, especially managing other people involved in proofing, editing, reading etc. Loads of people are free to use 3rd party AI tools. There are people that contractually must not use LLM based AI. |

I know this won't satisfy some people, but there is a Tweak available
Code:
# Hide AI features hide_ai_features = False |
|
