Avoid floating window for metadata edit
Greetings.
Using i3, the metadata edit window always opened floating, I prefer tiling. Also, it also opens too large for my screen, even if I have 3840x2160. Is there a way to tweak this?' calibre 9.11, i3 4.25.1, x-server 21.1.24 |

Double click the titlebar. That docks floating windows.
Close Calibre. Launch Calibre again to see if it 'sticks'. If it does not, you have rights issues with the configuration folder or files |

As far as I know, double clicking the Edit Metadata Individually titlebar does nothing.
If you drag a corner of the windows to shrink it, that will be sticky until the next time you change it. The two images are native 3840x2160, font scaling set to 100%. |

I run multiple monitors, so I have multiple detached windows, so I thought this was another. I really should test my advice, as you are correct (again)

I'm also using multiple monitors which is why I tend to get paranoid about window positioning, sizing, etc.

AFAIK - there are no 'dockable' windows in Calibre's Library Manager, i.e. child windows that can detached or parked at edges and designated dock sites. Quickview has a Dock/Undock button, it always docks under the Book List/Grid/Shelves and it cannot be detached.
One thing I've noticed, is that a fresh install of Calibre Portable for Windows on my 3840x2160 monitor always has a reasonable size (1818x1155) main window and huge (3592x2130) child windows for MDE, Conversion, etc etc. Not sure when it started - probably before Version 9. As DNSB reports, if the child windows are resized the new size will persist… I assume it's yet another Qt glitch. The Calibre Book editor and Book Viewer components have 'regular' dockable/detachable child windows. BR |

You tweak it in i3 not calibre.

Being pretty sure it wasn't referencing the BMW, I assumed the i3 was referring to the Intel processor… nah, now I see it's another linux UI damager.
