Hi everyone,
If you are like me and frequently change your font size, margins, or switch devices, you've probably noticed that the statistics.koplugin relies on CRE (CoolReader Engine) screen pages. This causes your total page count to fluctuate constantly, making your reading speed, daily pages read, and overall stats highly inaccurate. I’ve been working on a massive enhancement patch for the Statistics plugin (which I jokingly call the "Ninja Engine") to bring flawless true physical page tracking to KOReader. I have already submitted this as a Feature Request/PR to the official GitHub repository, but I wanted to share it with the MobileRead community for testing and feedback! 🌟 Key Features: 100% Accurate Pagemap Integration: If you are reading a book with a pagemap (synthetic or real), the statistics engine now directly reads the exact physical page number shown at the bottom of your screen using getCurrentPageLabel(). It completely bypasses screen ratio guesswork. API Fetch Fallback: Don't have a pagemap? No problem! A new menu option allows you to fetch the exact physical page count of your specific book edition via the Open Library or Google Books API with a single tap. Book Map Widget Fixes: Usually, forcing physical pages into the database crashes the BookMapWidget, TOC, and bookmarks. This patch elegantly maps the physical DB tags directly to the native CRE screen pages under the hood, preventing any crashes or map cropping. Physical Page Lock: Once a physical page count is fetched or manually set, it is locked into your database for that specific book, surviving all future sessions. 📥 How to test it: Download the attached main.lua file. Connect your e-reader to your PC and navigate to koreader/plugins/statistics.koplugin. Backup your original main.lua (just in case), and replace it with the new one. Restart KOReader and enjoy tracking your actual, physical book pages! I would love for you guys to test this out with different font sizes, threshold modes, and multiplier modes. Let me know if you encounter any bugs or if you have suggestions for improvement. Happy reading! 📚 |

Would you be able to implement ADE page numbers which are not fixed based on screens, the font, font size, line height, and margins?
The problem (as I see it) is you need a page map. With ADE page numbers, you'll never need a page map. |
