Hello from a reader interested in Calibre, e-readers, and book scanning
Hi everyone,
I’m new here and wanted to introduce myself before joining the discussions. I read mostly on e-readers and have been using Calibre more seriously to manage books across devices. I’m especially interested in the awkward gap between physical books and digital reading: older books, niche books, annotated books, or books that don’t have a good ebook version. Lately I’ve been learning more about non-destructive book scanning, OCR, and what makes a scanned book actually useful afterward: readable PDFs, clean metadata, page order, searchable text, and whether the result is pleasant enough to read on an e-reader. I’m not here to ask about piracy or DRM circumvention. I’m mainly interested in legitimate workflows for personally owned or public-domain books, and I’m hoping to learn from people here who have more experience with Calibre, Kobo/Kindle devices, and scanned-book workflows. Glad to be here. |
