Default value in custom column no longer working

Hello, all, and apologies if this is not the correct place to drop this thread.

I have been using Calibre for quite some time and have made a few changes as I gained familiarity. One of those was to add a custom column (Read Status) where I can track family use of my extensive book list. The column is text with several choices: Unread, On Device, Mary, Ed, Both (with default being Unread). Up until now, it worked fine. Today I installed the latest revision (9.10) and now when I add new books, the default for this column is blank. I have to manually choose Unread.

Any idea how I can get my default back? Thank you!

I think its a bug in 9.10, I have a similar column which defaults to "New" in 9.9, but not in 9.10.

You could uninstall 9.10 and reinstall 9.9, you won't lose any books or settings.

Kovid will see this thread and fix it.

It's caused by the fix for this: https://bugs.launchpad.net/calibre/+bug/2103999

Will need to think about how to fix it for both use cases.

Works here. The two columns I noticed the issue with (kepub and omnibus) now get their default values.
