Exclamation Give me your ideas and feature requests

Please let me know what features would help you. Everyone uses Calibre differently and it has been amazing to hear from some of you how you use it and how large your libraries are!
  • I'm thinking of adding support to change read status for example.
  • I'd also love to hear how it works on lower powered e-ink devices. Let me know if it is too slow.
  • Please let me know if languages are a problem.

One little thing (and probably it's an Android thing). When I open an ePub I'm always presented with a gigantic list of applications.

It's an android thing. It annoys me as well. I'm wondering gif I can find a work around, maybe I can put directions in the app on the welcome screen for new users

Browse dialogs to include a search dialog. ie: I request ability to search a partial string within a series name, title name, author, etc.

One feature would be a Windows version.

Could it be that there is a filter issue for language German. On web page https://www.gutenberg.org/browse/authors/g#a586 I see a lot of books from Goethe in German but not in your app.
Even more filter for German in your app showing a lot of different language perhaps all from europe.

Thank you for finding this bug. I did some digging. Librilink uses the official Gutenberg OPDS feed. which can only accept text as a search. It can't search for language. I was passing something like query=Goethe language:de to it but it doesn't read that as I want only German books.
I made a change for the next release:
it will search the word you put in.
It gets the results for all languages.
then it will filter for language and display the results.

Couple of suggestions.

(1)
Refinements of the Search feature.
Maybe I'm missing something, but there seems to be no options for the search dialog to restrict my query to say, just Series. If I enter "Orphan" in the search box, it gives me everything with "Orphan" in the title, series, description...
I'd like to be able to restrict my search to Series, Author, etc., but that doesn't seem possible currently.
Something similar to Calibre's search, e.g. "seriesrphan" or "title:murder" would be slick.

(2)
Would be great to have a way to have books I've already added to my device by other means show up in Downloads, perhaps by being able to select additional book folders. In my reader apps Librea and FBReader, for example, their library functions show all the books on my device.
-------------------

Love what you've done so far.

1) is coming in the next release

2) Right now it gets data from your calibre database To know details about the book file The next update has an option to look for orphan files in your downloads folder and delete them, open them, or send them somewhere. but trying to import other books. Where all it has is a file. I think would be a nightmare of inconsistencies.
