SD card issues on Aura Ed.2

Hello, I've searched these forums and other sources and can't seem to find an answer so I'm going to post a question here regarding an issue that's coming up consistently when I'm trying to expand my Kobo storage.

I used the method discussed on other threads on this site; copied my SD card image, flashed it to a bigger SD card, expanded the partition, etc etc. Never had an issue before now. This time when I did it, it all seems to work and looks fine on my computer, but when I return the card to my Kobo (Aura 2, N236) and press the power button the screen remains on "power off" with no backlight. The indicator light on the top right corner of the device will turn on as it would if I was booting it up. It doesn't flash or anything. Pop the old card in, works fine. Doesn't work on my other Kobo of the same model either, so it isn't the device itself.

I've tried factory resetting it and flashing that image instead but that hasn't made a difference. Not sure what I'm doing wrong this time that I did right before. It's an SD card I used before, just re-flashing it because I had to temporarily use it for another purpose while a smaller one was used as a placeholder.

I've been working on this issue for a week now and it's getting to the point where I'd legitimately reimburse someone if they could just flash the card for me and send it over tbh. Any advice?
