How do I ignore a device?

I would like to be able to plugin my Kobo Clara to USB without Calibre recognizing it (because it then prevents me from using “Connect to Folder”, which I want to do to access my koreader library). I found there is a list of ignored devices, but I cannot find how to add a device to it. Is it possible to do it?

(For context, I typically connect koreader on the Clara to Calibre using wifi, but sometimes I do not have access to wifi and I would still like to be able to use USB to transfer books. I know I can do it manually (by just opening the book folder and copying it to the mounted file system), but I prefer Calibre interface for this.)

Simply disable the kobo device plugins in preferences->plugins

There's a simple solution. Run calibre and use send to disk for all of the eBooks you want to read with KOReader. Then close calibre. If using Windows, use Windows Explorer to move those eBooks to your Kobo.

Thank you, it works. I just have to need to remember to enable the plugin when I connect my kids kobo. (A disconnect button that does not eject the device would be most useful for this use case.)

If you use my suggestion, you don't have the enable/disable anything which I think is easier.

For the life of me, I can't find how I (intended) did put 3 devices in preferences:Ignored devices.
I would expect an 'ignore this device' to be on the device view menu (while device is connected and recognized).
Or at least have a button 'Ignore current device' in Preferences: Ignored devices

Jellby's Unplugged might be of interest. When I'm installing/tweaking apps on my Kobo, which could need several USB cable reconnects, I usually make sure the Unplugged mode is activated.

I think the OP wants the USB active, just not have Calibre grab it.

And this is what Unplugged does. I just tested with the Kobo plugins active, and I can plug in my Clara (with Unplugged active), then choose to mount it as a file system device.

Ignored devices is for MTP based devices which the Kobo is not.
