Update title
I sideload KFXs to my Paperwhite and its 'Sort by Title' option uses embedded metdata title as sort order. IMHO this gets the books all out of order
Calibre 'Edit Metadata' (either individually or in bulk) doesn't allow title editing What I'd like to do is select a group of books, and add a prefix and the series number to the title, like Title = 'Some Exciting Book' series #10 in series 'Exciting Book' and end up with Title = 'EB10 Some Exciting Book' obviously manually entering the 'EB' prefix into the rule for each series Short of editing one book at a time is there a faster way? Thanks |

Use metadata plugboards. They're there for this exact purpose - to modify metadata for the books sent to your ereader. The library copy will be left unchanged.
And yes, it's a one-time operation. You enter your template and the rest will be automatic. (For example, your template could be like this: {series:| (|} {series_index:||)} {title} The resulting title would be (EB 10) Some Exciting Book. Or do you want to lose the parentheses?) Note that Sirtel's instructions won't change the titles of ebooks that you already loaded to your Paperwhite. You will have to delete the books from the reader and resend them from Cailbre.
If you want to preserve both the full series name (e.g. Lord of the Rings) and a shortened name (LOTR) in Calibre, you will need to create a custom metadata field (which is easy to do). |
