Cannot boot Boox Savi 6 (Go 6) into EDL Mode using an EDL cable
I accidentally bricked my Savi 6 (Go 6) by flashing the wrong .img files to both the A and B recovery partitions. It is currently stuck at the logo, but Fastboot (the bootloader) is still communicating. I ordered an EDL cable with a button, but when I try to boot the device while pressing the EDL button, it doesn't enter EDL mode; it remains stuck at the logo. Sometimes, when it restarts, it shows a longer black screen before showing the logo again, but this time Fastboot cannot communicate with it. Does anyone know how to fix this?

When holding the Power and EDL buttons for more than 10 seconds, the black screen stays on longer instead of just flashing. In this state, Windows no longer recognizes the device in fastboot mode. However, I still can't use EDL because the tool says 'Could not find EDL device'

When you boot into EDL mode the screen does not change because the primary bootloader in ROM does not even know what an Eink display is.
You must hold the EDL button for a second longer than the power button. Are you on Windows or Linux? For Windows you need a driver. |

Did you overwrite either xbl or abl?
As I said, if the screen changes you have not gone to EDL. Maybe the cable is wrong, maybe you're using it wrong, maybe the test for D+ is no longer in abl. If you can't figure it out you'll have to use the internal test points. |

The best way (if you can do it) is to power down your device completely (not sleeping) with no USB cable connected.
Plug the cable into the PC, leave the device end disconnected, push and hold the button, plug the cable into the device, say out loud, "One Mississippi", release the button. If you have a running system you can also select the "Restart" option while holding the EDL button for 5 seconds. (But if you had that you could just "adb reboot edl".) The next best way is to plug both ends of the cable in, push and hold the EDL button, push the power button, wait 10 seconds, release the power button, "One Mississippi", release the EDL button. I built a box that doesn't use a button and automatically knows when your device is trying to check for EDL cable. That's in another country right now and I should build another. |
