Post Service to read long-form articles and news in e-readers

Passages is a web app for saving articles from around the web and turning them into beautifully typeset ebooks you can read on your e-reader. Passages takes a different approach from other "read later apps" by focusing on content extraction and cleanup first, then rendering with typographic care, so your saved reads actually look and feel like they belong on an e-ink screen.

The workflow is simple: save articles through a browser extension (Chrome and Firefox) organize them into collections, and export those collections as a single ebook whenever you're ready to read offline. You get a curated, distraction-free reading experience.

Passages is currently in beta and actively being built by a solo developer (hi, that's me). Ii already offers Kindle delivery via Send to Kindle, Kobo sync via Dropbox, and plenty of other features informed by how people actually read on their devices. If this sounds like something you'd use, I'd love to have more e-reader enthusiasts testing it and sharing feedback — you can use it for free at https://passages.ink.

Thank you!

We have Instapaper for the Kobo. I use it all the time.

Seamless.

All my e-reader are android-based and able to use browsers. I can already read "articles from around the web" on these devices. And the best part, I don't have to tell a company, which combines text to epub files, about what I want to read.

Yeah. I use it too!

Instapaper integration with Kobo is fine, but i miss things like:

- The ability to highlight and annotate the content
- The possibility of downloading the content and save it wherever I want

Besides that, i have a habit of creating collections of articles to read them together which unfortunately i can't do with Instapaper.

Privacy is a fair concern and I have nothing to counter it. Any service that uses a database to store data for processing and later download it use will technically have access to your data.

On the other subject, i think I did not express clearly my mission. I want to read content while been "away from the web". The only thing that differentiates Passages from the "read later" services is my main focus on generating collection of articles to be bundled in a single ebook.

I see 3 main target audiences here:
- Organization freaks like me that like to compile something like "10 articles about urbanism" in a single publication
- People with hard time focus when reading on a fully-featured device like a tablet
- People that like read on "offiline" or old devices

I imagine this service as a very niche one. I solves my personal needs and I decided to make it public. I believe that 99% of people will not be interested and that is ok.

Interesting. I see it's "coming soon" to Safari.
