Someone already experience with regard to the battery drain and remote issue? I do hope this release improves that issue.

For the Libra 2, this release has the same fixes as 4.38.23648. I haven't noticed any excessive power drain on my Libra Colour or Sage using a Kobo Remote (other than the usual complaints about the Sage's Allwinner B300 quad core processor and it's lousy power management).

I haven't noticed any change. My remote still disconnects all the time after working fine for about an hour.

No change at all after this upgrade. After turning bluetooth on, wifi also gets activated and the battery drain is still awful. A half hour reading cost 20% battery life. I am disappointed.

You could try NickelMenu to turn off just WiFi.

Can't connect to Kobo Aura One with 4.38.23684

Just updated to 4.38.23684, and I can no longer connect to my Kobo on Linux (Linux Mint 22.3). Kobo.com says I have to now use Kobo Desktop, a Windows/Mac only program to connect to my Kobo. Of course, the program apparently doesn't work under Wine.

Is anyone else seeing this?

Is there something I'm missing? How do I connect my Kobo to Calibre in particular?

I updated my Kobo Aura to the newest firmware and had no issues connecting to Linux Mint and seeing the contents of the internal memory, which I believe is enough for Calibre. But I sometimes have to pay attention which cable I'm using, not all cables seem to work.

I'd suggest you try a few different cables, maybe that's your issue?

Have you tried to mount the kobo manually? You can do that from the command line. After that Calibre has to detect it automatically.

I've been using the following on my Kobo Sage:
Code:
#
menu_item :main :Bluetooth Connect :nickel_wifi :enable
chain_success :nickel_wifi :autoconnect_silent
chain_success :nickel_bluetooth :enable
chain_success :nickel_wifi :disable
#
Basically, enable WiFi to enable Bluetooth and then turn WiFi off.

I am using this with NickelMenu 0.6.0 from Patrick Gaskin's GitHub site.

Thank you DNSB! This opened a whole new world for me. I had never used Nickel menu before. Your script works fine. When I want to turn bluetooth off again I still had to push on the bluetooth icon on the top off the screen, so I took the liberty to add this code to your lines:

# enable WiFi to disable Bluetooth and then turn WiFi off

menu_item :main :Bluetooth Off :nickel_wifi :enable
chain_success :nickel_wifi :autoconnect_silent
chain_success :nickel_bluetooth :disable
chain_success :nickel_wifi :disable

and that works fine also. Great.

This won't work because you have Bluetooth being disabled instead of enabled.

Perhaps you might want to go back and re-read @Odyssee's message. You might notice that is exactly what @Odyssee wanted that item to do. I've quoted a portion of the original message and bolded the relevant portion.
