Welcome Wizard Doesn't list Pocketbook Verse

I will be setting up a new Pocketbook Verse 6" reader for a friend. That model is not listed in the Welcome Wizard's list of Pocketbook models.

Which of these models should I select instead. This will be my first exposure to this brand.

PocketBook 301/302
PocketBook 360 and newer models
PocketBook 900
PocketBook Inkpad 3 (Pro) and X
PocketBook Lux (1-5) and Basic 4
PocketBook PocketBook HD Touch (1-3)
PocketBook Pro 912

Thanks in advance.

Choose the one whoose screen size is closest to the verse. Most likely the verse shares usb ids with another pocketbook device so detecting it and sending books to it etc should just work outof the box.

Thanks. Not familiar with any of them, but I will research and find one similar.

You can just set the device to Tablet. That's what lots of us do. That means calibre won't resize the images in the book.

Thanks.
I thought that selecting a brand was important, thinking that Calibre would know what location on the device to copy books based on that brand.
But maybe I'm way off.

No, it's not. Calibre will usually recognize the brand even if the device selected in the welcome wizard is a tablet. After all, many users have several different brands that they connect to their calibre library.

Should have kept reading:

In addition to the Connect to folder function found under the Connect/share button, calibre provides a User defined device plugin that can be used to connect to any USB device that shows up as a disk drive in your operating system.
Always check the FAQ's.

The OP's question was about selecting a device in the Welcome Wizard, not about calibre not detecting their device.

Calibre selects device specific locations via the device driver which in turn is selected based on the USB id of the device.

The device selected by the wizard is mostly used to just set a default for the device's screen resolution to allow resizing of the cover of the book when it's sent to the device.

Yes, thank you.

Did a deeper dive with AI. Turns out the closest Pocketbook to the Verse in the Welcome Wizard with regard to screen size/resolution is this one:
"PocketBook Lux (1-5) and Basic 4"

Maybe this will come in handy for someone in the future.
