title and title_sort produce same result in save template
Is this a bug? I'm new to Calibre and this is my first time using template language. The template worked when I defined it a couple of weeks ago but I think I've updated Calibre since then and found the template didn't work today.
Example Code:
Title: The Book: A Novel Authors: Jane Doe & John Buck Code:
{authors:list_item(0,&)}/{title:list_item(0,:)}/{title:list_item(0,:)}
Code:
Jane Doe/Book, The/Book, The Code:
Jane Doe/The Book/The Book Last edited by bensmuda; 04-08-2026 at 10:44 AM. |

Well, well. I guess it's time I read through the tweaks.
Thank you! I appreciate the work you do. |

I think you are looking for the sublist option. I only use the first author_sort entry and the first author entry when sending to device so my template is:
Elibrary/{author_sort:sublist(0,1,&)}/{title} - {authors:sublist(0,1,&)} If you substitute sublist(0,1,&) with sublist(0,2, & ), you will get the first two entries with ' & ' as the separator. Since I use Kobo ereaders and series is supported by the device so I don't need to add it. Last edited by DNSB; 04-28-2026 at 05:08 PM. Reason: Added quotes around the ' & ' separator. |
