Unless you are using Calibre PORTABLE (where everything is kept together )
You INSTALL Calibre as normal. Then copy over your Configuration folder (replace the default one) Then start Calibre: Switch / Create: USE EXISTING:Pont it to the LIBRARY on the external drive. I really suggest that drive be rotating or SSD. flash drives are pretty slow and my experiences is when they fail, they just FAIL...No warning |

If you are truly uncomfortable, use the built in calibre export / import facility. Do the export to an external drive and then the import on the new PC from the external drive.
This will handle both the calibre library and your preferences / plugins. |

You DON'T put Calibre 'in'. You INSTALL Calibre, then tell it where to find the Libraries (which you copy the entire folder. The default, if you did not change or add more is Calibre Library). I don't keep books in the default. I Have Multiple Libraries: 1) MainLib. 2) MagazineLib. 3 JuvenalLib (kid friendly). 4) Intake (where books first land until I clean out the fluff tags and make other adjustments
![]() The Folder name is the Library Name *shown'). The Switch / Create use existing is how you train Calibre on what you have. |

When you copy the library to the external drive it can go wherever you want. You're only using it to transfer the data to the new PC.
Don't overthink things. Of course it goes without saying that you don't dispose of the old PC or delete the calibre library until you're happy that it's working correctly on the new PC |
