Display of Cover in Calibre Interface
If an empty book record already exists, and you add a book to that record, the cover that shows in Calibre's interface remains generic, even though the book you just added has a cover. Can you force calibre to show the cover of the newly-added book?

Yes you can get the cover from the eBook to display. Go to the edit metadata window and click the blue button next to the format list in the upper right of the window and it will pull the cover from the eBook.

Adding a book with a cover will update the cover unless you have disabled reading metadata from file contents.

I knew there was a way! Thanks, JSWolf.
Kovid - I checked my settings, and I am reading metadata from file contents when I add books. If the book you add is going into a new record that's being created because you are adding the book, you are correct. But if the record already exists, the cover doesn't show up unless you do what JSWolf explained. Problem solved. Thanks MobileRead Forums! |

@desertdaisy - because it has an Accelerator key (Alt+E) I use the Bulk MDE, also means I can extract covers for multiple books:
