[GUI Plugin] Goldendict Bridge
Goldendict Bridge
Multiple dictionaries local lookup using your Goldendict configuration The Celestial Handshake It was said to be written in the stars, and the encounter between your library and your lexicon is here. Like two entities, Calibre and GoldenDict have been searching for their mirror image. One holds the world's stories; the other, the keys to every whispered word. This plugin is the bridge that brings them into a permanent embrace. It is a span across time, connecting the wisdom of the past found in classic tomes to the limitless beginning of your next deep dive. No longer will you wander between "reading" and "understanding." Step across the bridge. Your books are finally ready to reveal their hidden depths — from the subtle dance of nuance and etymology to the architectural beauty of perfect grammar. Don’t just skim the surface; unlock the full weight of every sentence. Your library is speaking a richer language now; it’s time to truly master the conversation. Installation 1. Download the latest release zip. 2. Preferences -> Plug-ins -> Load Plugin from File. 3. Select the zip, install, and restart Calibre. License This plugin is licensed under the GNU GPL v3. Compatibility - Calibre 6.25.0 or later - Windows, macOS, Linux Release notes Spoiler:

Hi, I can't promise compatibility but at some point I may try adding support for the ng fork.

Well, I have some bad then some good news, I think.
Thanks to your feedback, I just found an inconsistency in the plugin's instructions and on the copy URL button. On a clean calibre install, I copied the URL using said button (top right of main dialog) and placed it on the Search the Net field to make a quick test and I got an error. Then I later realized I was using the wrong URL. Search the net requires this format: http://127.0.0.1:40455/lookup?q={q} Whereas the lookup panel in the viewer uses this format: http://127.0.0.1:40455/lookup?q={word} The good news is, once I set the correct URL, goldendict-ng worked! So, if you please tell me exactly what does not work with ng, I can verify. (the instructions and the copy url button will be corrected soon) |

Ah, I see. What's probably happening is that you're expecting the online dictionaries that come set up in NG to show up in GDB.
Well, the plugin was originally conceived to work with local dictionaries. This may or may not change in the future. Hence, the user must have at least one local dictionary installed. I suggest users search the web for 'stardict dictionaries' and install some locally. At a rough estimate I'd say the plugin can load 80% of the dictionaries, not restricted to stardict format. The local path must be set on NG menu Edit -> Dictionaries. Then they will load in GDB. I've attached Princeton's Wordnet En-En so you can have a quick start. |
