Montgomery, L. M.: Emily Climbs. v1. 10 Mar 2026

The second novel in the “Emily” trilogy follows 14-year-old Emily Starr as she leaves New Moon Farm to attend high school in Shrewsbury, under two conditions. She must board with her strict Aunt Ruth, and worse—she must not write a word of fiction during her high-school education (because, of course, “fiction” is equivalent to “lies”).

Shrewsbury brings new friends, new enemies, and new adventures; and the town is scandalized by some of Emily’s exploits. She channels her creativity into poetry and non-fiction, beginning her climb to success

(Includes first edition frontispiece.)

================
Lucy Maud Montgomery was a prolific Canadian author, best known for a series of eight novels beginning with “Anne of Green Gables”, published in 1908. The title character, orphan Anne Shirley, made Montgomery famous in her lifetime and gave her an international following. Virtually all her writings remain in print today. Her writing is often categorized as “juvenile fiction”, but adults remain faithful readers.
