Cameron Sino replacement battery for Sony PRS-950 Daily Edition drains quickly

Dear all:

Some time ago the original battery on my Sony PRS-950 Daily Edition died (at least I got the impression because it refused to charge) and I decided to replace it. The only replacement available was a Cameron Sino battery, which I purchased. After an unsuccessful attempt at getting it to charge, I read here or someplace else that one needs to remove the NTC (or whatever it's called) and solder it to to the new battery, which I had a service shop do for me. The charging problem was thus solved, but another problem arose: the new battery drains quickly and behaves erratically. It can sometimes discharge in a matter of days (sometimes overnight when the reader is in standy!), and its behavior is often unpredictable.

I don't know which direction to pursue: could it be a faulty battery? Is it possible that the soldering was botched? The erratic behavior is there with both original Sony firmware and the PRS-Plus enhancement, so I don't think it's a software issue. Also, I get the impression that the rate of discharge depends on the .epub file I'm currently reading.
