Calibre error message when opened
For about a year I get the following error message every time I open Calibre;
Failed to contact running instance of calibre. Try restarting calibr. Underneath message are 3 boxes. 1. OK 2. Copy to clipboard. 3. More details. Below are the details: (Errno2} No such file or directory: '\\\\.\\pipe\\CalibreGUI-stevex' b'launched: ["calibre exe"]' Calibre opens perfectly so I don't know why I'm getting the message or how to get rid of it. If any one else has this annoyance or knows what to do I'd be grateful. |

It happens on some windows computers never been able to reproduce or track down why. It's harmless, you can ignore it.

A way to reproduce is, for example, on a portable install file explorer window, double-click several times the calibre-portable.exe launcher. Or press enter repeatedly while portable executable is selected. Calibre will open, then the subsequent requests will trigger that message.
Sounds almost like the OP is somehow requesting two calibre startups at the same time, for some reason. Then the subsequent instances being requested will trigger that message. Last edited by Comfy.n; 02-07-2026 at 01:55 PM. |
