Calibre Sync broken by Calibre v9?

Updated to Calibre 9, and now Calibre Sync is failing to update on any of our tablets, with the error shown below. Not sure if it's related to the Calibre update or not

Anyone else having issues updating Calibre Sync, or know of the cause? Sent the developer an email but have not heard back.

Calibre 9 applies changes to the database, specifically removing 3 columns that whatever software you’re using is now unable to find.

In investigating further, seems that the Calibre-Web app is also broken with this update. Hoping their respective authors can provide a timely update.

Try creating a custom column called isbn with a lookup name of #isbn and see if calibre sync works. If it still doesn't work, delete the column isbn and try again with ISBN/#ISBN in uppercase.

Considered that, but will wait a few days and see if the Calibre Sync author issues an update. He was quick to add fixes and suggested enhancements when his app first dropped, but mentioned a sorting issue a year or so back, and he wasn't interested in entertaining a fix.

Well, he has to entertain a fix for this or for those running calibre 9, say goodbye to calibre sync.

If you have Calibre Sync use a Calibre Content Server based library there is no issue.

Calibre Web is no longer developed, it’s in maintenance mode. Please migrate to Calibre Web Automated, which has already addressed this bug:

I just used Calibre Web as an example. I don't use it. My main interest is Calibre Sync.

It seems that someone is maintaining Calibre Web, perhaps just for bugs. This issue has been fixed in their "nightly" release:

For doing that, you need to sync with calibre running... and it doesn't have the same behavior. Let's see if it is solved.

Calibre-Web does seem to continue being maintained. There is a fix for this issue in the current nightly, which hopefully will make its way to stable soon enough.

That's not going to work. Custom columns are implemented differently.
