I have updated my operating system to Mac OSX Sequoia 15.7.3 (24G419) this morning. Upon restarting the computer I am unable to open Calibre. I receive the following error:

Thanks Kovidgoyal.
There is nothing in the "Permission Denied" section that you shared that seems to help. * You can get permission denied errors if you are using an SD card with write protect enabled. (not using an SD card and "write protect" is not enabled) *On macOS if you get permission errors when connecting a device to calibre, you can fix that by looking under System Preferences > Security and Privacy > Privacy > Files and Folders. (I am not connecting a device. Calibre has full drive access in Privacy) *If you, or some program you used changed the file permissions of the files in question to read only. (No permissions have changed. All files on this drive are read/write to everyone) * If there is a filesystem error on the device which caused your operating system to mount the filesystem in read only mode or mark a particular file as read only pending recovery. (No file system error. Can read, write, edit, and create files on the drive elsewhere as per usual practices) * If the files have their owner set to a user other than you. (Owner of all files is me. All files set to read/write for all users) If your file is open in another program. (No files open elsewhere) * If the file resides on a device, you may have reached the limit of a maximum of 256 files in the root of the device. In this case you need to reformat the device/sd card referred to in the error message with a FAT32 filesystem, or delete some files from the SD card/device memory. (Not applicable) I am assuming that the Sequoia update introduced something new. Calibre was working as usual this morning and fails to work after updating the OS. I have downloaded a new Calibre package and reinstalled. I can confirm that other applications are able to access the directory as per usual. |

Is volume(sda2) your boot disk? Default permissions for accessing the root of your disk have changed. See https://support.apple.com/en-us/101400
Try copying your entire Calibre library folder to inside your Documents folder. e.g. /Volumes/volume(sda2)/Users/<username>/Documents and open it from there. You could also try this in a terminal window: ls -la /Volumes/volume(sda2)/Calibre* to check file permissions. |
