Greetings

Hi, all. I'm Shel, and I love to read. My darling husband recently informed me that I'll be getting an ebook reader soon; so I'm researching to find out which one I want, and which one will work best for my needs.
A catastrophic event occurred four years ago, without going into details, I'll just say that it involved the loss of my book collection, which was a combined effort of my mother's and mine. Over four bookcases full plus uncounted boxes. This time, I'm rebuilding and adding to my personal library in electronic form (with copious backups!!!) so that I never have to be without my best friends (my books) again.
Thanks for reading, and I hope to get to know you all soon.

Hi Shel and welcome to the Forum. You will really love your eBook reader. Only problem is, the damn things are addictive.

Okay, maybe it's not such a problem.

*Laughing* I do NOT see the addiction factor as being a problem!!
Part of the attraction of an ebook reader for me is the portability. I'm always grabbing a book to take with me, because I hate being stranded somewhere without reading material. In the absence of something to read I have been reduced to the backs of cereal boxes, the fine print on labels...etc. *grin*

Nice to meet you and thank you for the welcome!!

Welcome Shel -- sounds like your husband is a keeper if he understands that getting you an electronic book reader is a good thing. You didn't say where you live, and unfortunately, that can affect the ease of getting one device or another. Also, what kind of books do you like to read?

Welcome to MobileRead.

Ooops, I did overlook a few details didn't I? My husband is indeed a keeper, and I'm extremely lucky to have him. He has, however, expressed the fear that once I get my hands on an ebook reader he'll never get it OUT of my hands long enough for me to do certain other things like sleep, cook, or ......

I live in Illinois, USA (aka the Frozen North), but I am a native Texan. (Believe me, once you get to know me that will explain a LOT!)

I read darn near anything, including the backs of cereal boxes, but my favorites are light mysteries, aka cozies. I got to looking around at Amazon today and in about ten minutes flat had a list of about 50 authors that I MUST check out very soon. I can see bankruptcy in my future....

Guess not, as no one has said anything to me about it yet!! But they haven't revoked my Native Texan Membership card either, so who knows? Maybe the world domination faction is just waiting to see if I'm trustworthy?

LOL!! Like I need any more obsessions. I'm already a computer geek, love computer graphic design, specializing in WordPress blog designs and sigtags. I crochet, and I'm now starting to bake all our own bread. I'm also a full time student at Herzing College Online out of Milwaukee, WI pursuing an Associates Degree in Medical Office Administration, while I work part time as Customer Service at the local supermarket. Obsessions I got...

Hiya! From another Illinois person (who is way behind on reading here at MR). We have a few people deep in Chicago (or not so far in) and I'm out in the suburbs, in Aurora.

I guess "online" classes doesn't require you to be too close to Milwaukee. Care to divulge WHERE in IL you are?
