I really hope this isn’t true. I would understand the AI features not being available on the older models, but the new homescreen layout or cloud integration? That’s just insane. The homescreen on the kindles is literally some JavaScript and HTML. Now obviously we don’t need the new system wide dark mode as the older scribes already have that basic feature. It does link to an Amazon help page so I’m hoping the language in the help page means “it’s only on these models for now because we haven’t backported the software yet” instead of “it’s not coming at all”. The 2022 and 2024 scribes are not that old in terms of kindles AND they are still in their software support window as well. Those devices were also crazy expensive at launch as well. |

Seriously, both old scribes are still lacking in notetaking features, and in UI as well, so it would really be a bad move from them to just abandon them. |

I was holding on to my original Scribe because I was expecting them to backport the new features. If this turns out true, I’ll sell the device too. The only remaining device will be my Kindle Touch - for reasons. |

Google drive and Microsoft OneNote are proprietary tech, so it could be something with contracts.

There will be some features coming (Amazon announced 'book so far' and 'recap' would be to all newer Kindles), that is all I'm assuming at this point. I believe it is closer to 'all features' than to 'no features' however, largely because Amazon has done that in the past. Last edited by tomsem; Yesterday at 05:01 PM. |

No I don’t think so. Anyone can build an app that connects to the Google Drive API or OneDrive API. It’s in their best interest to allow it because then users will upload more files and eventually exceed their storage limit.
