Converting from EPUB to Mobi or AZW3 results in mixed pages

I have a book in EPUB but no way to view it in that format. When I convert it to PDF and view it on my PC, I can see what I think causes the error when I convert to Mobi or AZW3.

In PDF form, the book appears to have two pages per screen. So any time there is a chapter header or blank page in the book, one of those 2 pages on the screen is blank. Then as I scroll down there are 2 pages. I'm attaching a screenshot to show what I mean.

So when I convert the original EPUB file, no matter whether I try to make the output Mobi or AZW3, I get scrambled pages. I'll have, for example:

Paragraph 1 from page 1
Line 1 from Page 2
Paragraph 2 from Page 1
Paragraph 2 from Page 2

Is there any way to correct for this? I thought I read Amazon was now allowing EPUBS on Kindle but I can't send it to my device.

Imgur is blocked in UK sadly. How are you attempting to convert from epub to kf8 and/or mobi?
Have you run epubcheck?
Do you have a debug report you can share?
I also wonder if your problem is similar to the one in this thread?

Edit: No, it isn't. The problem in the other thread was that the opf file indicated Arabic as the language, so calibre coded the book right to left.

Please attach your image instead of linking to Imgur. Imgur does not work in the UK and it is over capacity too much of the time (like right now). Also, your image will eventually be deleted. It's a lot easier to have it attached so it wont be deleted in case it's ever needed.

Sorry, I wasn’t aware that Imgur is blocked in the UK. Also I was concerned about attaching it since the rules mention images in threads not being larger than 600x600. It's attached now.

I did convert to Mobi and got the same problem as I did when I converted to AZW3.

Okay so I got epubcheck and for some reason I couldn't get it to run from the command line, so I got pagina epubChecker, a GUI for it. And boy were there ever errors! I have attached the log file. If there's a way to fix those I would so appreciate you helping me out! Thank you!

A lot of errors.
The ebook is available at kobo in the US but not in UK. I wouldn't expect so many errors from Kobo.
If it is a legitimate copy I'd try and get your money back.
Did you try converting epub to mobi and then mobi to kf8 - if not that might give you a better file to read.
I'm a bit stuck now. Hopefully someone else might be able to help.

The missing alt= is a technical error, but that would not affect the rendering.

What is interesting is the Image you posted is a PDF 2 page spread.
Is it possible this book is Images of pages? Whatever, the other errors are screaming malformed HTML
the lang= error is saying not a standard value like "en" or en-US"

For what it may be worth, I found a copy of Far Journeys by Robert A. Monroe in the local library and borrowed it. The filenames internal to the ePub did not match the filenames in the log file posted by the OP and the only error from epubcheck was that the ncx identifier did not match the opf identifier. The Kobo supplied copy was also an ePub3 while the OP's copy is ePub2 from the log file.

Looking at the errors and the filenames suggests to me that the OP is working with an ePub that was converted from a PDF likely by calibre.

I looked at the place I got it from and the only commenter mentioned that they had the same issue with the scrambled epub file. Oh well, I’ll see if my library has a copy I can borrow. Thanks!
