Question/Suggestion regarding book management
Hello, first of all, greetings to the entire community, and many thanks to Kovid for this great book manager.

My question is whether it's possible to add the number of pages for each book to the book list...

Book Title - Author - Publisher - Year - Size -

The number of pages seems like an interesting tool for comparing publications, especially if someone wants to read something short. Also, for personal statistical purposes, it shows how many pages they've read, or whether they prioritize short or long books.

Does this function exist? I haven't found it.

Hello and welcome

Yes you can add a page count custom column. There is also a page count addon.

I think word count is a much better indicator of length of book and comparison between books.

that bit is very complex to implement, I'd say impossible because it needs markers. When did reading stop?

Just to add to what Karellen said: current calibre beta adds a pages count column; Count Pages plugin can populate a words column.

BTW I asked in the past if it would be possible to implement some kind of marker for the ebook viewer; not sure if @chaley saw this

Or maybe he saw it and found it not implementable reliably
