Post KOReader Custom Translator - Replace built-in Google Translate with Custom API

Hi everyone,

I’d like to share a small project I’ve been working on for KOReader users: KOReader Custom Translator.

As many of you know, KOReader’s built-in Google Translate is fantastic, but it can sometimes be unreliable due to regional network restrictions or API limitations. This plugin allows you to redirect translation requests to a custom API backend, ensuring better accessibility and potentially better translation quality.

✨ Key Features:
Custom API Backend: Uses a dedicated endpoint (translate.api.tokisaki.top) to bypass default Google Translate issues.
(you can see API endpoint https://github.com/Tokisaki-Galaxy/translate-api )
Extensive Language Support: Supports up to 249 languages, maintaining KOReader's native auto-detection and Pinyin/Romaji features.
Easy Installation:
Kindle Users: Comes with a KUAL extension for one-click installation and restoration.
Kobo/Android/Linux: Includes automated Shell scripts for easy setup.
Safe & Reversible: Automatically backs up your original translator.lua file, so you ca

🚀 Quick Start (Kindle/KUAL):
  • Download the latest release from GitHub.
  • Copy the folder to your Kindle's extensions directory.
  • Open KUAL -> KOReader Custom Translator -> Install.
  • Restart KOReader and enjoy!

I hope this helps those of you who have been struggling with translation issues in KOReader. Feedback and contributions are more than welcome!

Happy reading!
