Option to specify heading level when auto-generating TOC
I use automatization to create my EPUB TOCs which works fine in general. However, I could not find an option to specify the heading levels to be included in the TOC as it can be specified when a TOC is generated by the corresponding menu item.
Is there a way to do so as well when creating the TOC in an automated process or could this option be added to one of the future releases? |

You can always use the Sigil built in tool to create the TOC, and then use the TOC Editor to control nesting and levels. But since building a toc is normally only done once, after the epub is fully edited, doing fine controls via an automation list is just not worthwhile in general in my opinion. You can always create a plugin to do what you want and add that to your automation list.

Configurable default value for the heading levels to be included in a TOC
Thank you for your reply! I understand that this might not be a general use case. However, I think it could be helpful for more people to implement a setting for a default value for the heading levels to be included in a TOC. This relatively small change would also serve my case.

Sorry not interested. The feature you requested is not of general use because it is typically just done once and there is already a way to do that via the TOC editor.
Building a TOC is typically done once at the end, so automating it is not useful. If you must have something that can be done in an automation list, create your own plugin that does what you want. Stripping a 3 level TOC down to a 2 level or single level TOC is quite easy to do in python, so a plugin would be relatively straight forward. Last edited by KevinH; Today at 11:06 AM. |

Seconded.
The TOC editor allows changing the indent nesting or removal with a click or 2. You can even change the Order of appearance (this does not change the linear placement IN the EPUB) in the TOC |
