Unofficial Patches for 4.38.23555

This thread is for the unofficial patches for the new firmware 4.38.23555. Most of the patches work. It may work for later firmware. I cannot say as I've not tried.

All of the patchers have been updated thanks to @geek1011

I would like to thank @aardvark for the original updated Windows .exe, geek1011 for fixing all of patchers and @jackie-w and @Semwize for help in updating some patches.

Use the file kobopatch.yaml to override the no to yes for each patch you want to apply. I cannot say all the patches work. Most of them do apply. If you have any issue with any of the patches, just post about the issue.

This is the same format as the unofficial patches for 4.38.23171.

There are more patchers if you need a different one not in the ZIP file. Please go to https://github.com/pgaskin/kobopatch...es/tag/v0.16.0 to see if what you need is there if it's not in the ZIP file.

P.S. Thank you to @jackie_w for fixing even more patches.

Please note:

ETA: From a kobopatch *.yaml files (nickel, libnickel.so.1.0.0 etc) point-of-view 4.38.23552 and 4.38.23555 can be considered the same. I believe any patch which works in one should work in the other without alteration.

Hello! Does anyone have this synchronization problem? I thought I did something wrong when patching, but it turned out that it's the same with the original firmware.

Please, I need a little help. I downloaded the update kobo-update-4.38.23552.zip and updated my Clara 2E. That went fine.

I'm trying to do the patch now. I downloaded the patch file kobopatch_4.38.23555.zip from the first post, but when I run the batchfile, I end up with this in the log (after a bunch of other stuff:

KoboPatch::ApplyPatches
    KoboPatch::openIn
        Opening firmware zip 'src/kobo-update-4.38.23555.zip'
        --> open src/kobo-update-4.38.23555.zip: The system cannot find the file specified.

What do I need to modify to get the patches to work between the patch version and the firmware version I downloaded.

The firmware ZIP file goes in the src directory. Then you will find the log file and the KoboRoot.tgz (if the patches all applied) in the out directory.

I did put the firmware in the src folder. The problem was I'm using the 3.38.x firmware.

I've since downloaded 3.38.x patches and I'm good.

Just as a nit, the output file is KoboRoot.tgz not KoboRoot.zip.

First time installing them, quick question: I enabled them in the code, then patched the firmware file, then installed the patched firmware on my device. Do I need to do anything within the device? Or should it now just be enabled by default?

Did you enable the patches you want in the kobopatch.yaml file? By enabling them in the yaml files in the src directory, nothing will be enabled as the kobopatch.yaml file will override all of that.

Once the device reboots, which it should do automatically, the patches are in effect. Nothing needs to be done on the device.

Unless @Bananaman selected the patches via the yaml files in the src directory instead of the kobopatch.yaml file. If he did that, no patches would be applied.

Also, he's not been back since Jan 06 so he's not seen our posts.
