Need help with moving from Calibre 5.7 to 8

Hi
I have been using Calibre 5.37 under GNU/Linux Mint. That was the newest in the repos. Then I found out that with Flatpack I could install Calibre 8.14. My questions are:
1) Can I simply point 8.14 to the library created by 5.37 or will that mess up things?
2) Is there a way for me to export my configuration (such as plugins) and import it into 8.14 or must I do that by hand?
Thank you for any
Farik

You dont need to do anything simply update. But once you update make sure you dont go back to using an older version of calibre on the same library/config.

On Mint Linux you do not have to use flatpacks. I just run the command from the https://calibre-ebook.com/download_linux page and it installs / updates my Calibre.
Calibre will take you to that page when you click on a "found a new version" on a screen.
