Calibre able to create create a bookshelf like ebookjapan (showing comic book spines
Is Calibre able to replicate something similar to ebookjapan’s bookshelf interface (ebookjapan 本棚), where comics are displayed not just by covers, but by book spines on a virtual shelf (like the screenshot attached).

Is there a function in Calibre that lets you display a custom book spine cover, and then show a different cover when viewing the full layout?

And the background of the bookshelf can show the wood bookshelf UI?

No. You can display book covers not spines. And you can apply any background texture you like to them.

As far as I know, calibre is not able to do the bookshelf spine display.

If anyone wants to move these attachments to the first image, feel free to do so.
