Covers for Colorsoft

I suspect I'm not the first person to have the problem that my Kindle Colorsoft doesn't display covers for converted epubs.

I know there's a tool on Github https://github.com/JediRhymeTrix/cal...dle-asin-fixer but honestly, I don't want to install Python and a bunch of other tools just to display covers on my Kindle.

Is there any chance that a plugin (possibly KFX Output) could correctly retrieve this ASIN from Amazon during conversion? That would be a really practical solution.

Why specifically mobi, using the "send-to-kindle" workaround seems to work fine, using epub.

There is nothing specific to MOBI there, the setting you need to toggle is under MOBI Output, that's all.

Thanks, but its not so easy. I edited in the metadate the ASIN I found at Amazon. But no cover appears. When I tap to "look at shop" the message was shown, that the ASIN is wrong. So is there any way (without installing python e.c.) to get the correct ASINs to the calibre metadata?

Unfortunately, it's not that simple. I entered the ASIN I found on the Amazon website into the metadata in Calibre. However, when I select “View in Store” for the book on my Kindle, I get a message saying that the ASIN is incorrect. How can I get the correct ASIN into the metadata of my e-books without installing Python etc. (in the hope that the covers will then appear)?

You will have less pain if you convert with Enable sharing option checked (AZW3), or convert to KFX with default options, so it is a (Personal) Document. Cover image will get generated.

The 'ASIN hack' (I guess people did this in the past to make it masquerade as a Book you purchased from Amazon to enable features normally only available for Amazon purchases) does not seem to work since recent updates. Having ASIN in metadata entails additional checking now and the book might not even open.

At least that was my experience in trying to get Assistive Reader to work with third-party content.

Or send ePub to Send To Kindle, and cover will get generated (if ePub has one properly tagged).

Unfortunately, none of the options display the cover image.
Will there be a workaround for this?

Just follow the steps I linked to in the FAQ, they work fine. You dont need to do all this elaborate hoopla.
